Who writes it

Matt is the editor of The Tech Reveal. He has spent over a decade building software, including several years as an engineer at Goldman Sachs and IG, and is now a founder and CTO. He has evaluated countless software tools from both a technical and commercial perspective. He started this site because the systems businesses depend on are rarely reviewed by anyone who has had to both make them work and pay for them.

He tests every system first-hand and writes every review on this site.

How we test

We use each system on a real task before writing about it, and go past the feature list into the parts that decide whether it will actually work for you: how the data is structured, whether the integrations and APIs do what the marketing says, what the migration costs, and which decisions you cannot reverse later. We also weigh the side most technical reviews ignore, because we are buying this software too: what it really costs a year in, how much of your team’s time it takes to run, and what it does to the way you work. We compare against the obvious alternatives and call out the trade-offs plainly. Comparisons and “best of” lists are ranked on merit. Where a placement is sponsored, we label it clearly. A paid listing never changes an honest verdict.
